Tuberculosis, or TB Disease, was once the leading cause of death in the United States. As early as the 1940's, the first of several medicines was discovered to treat TB and as a result, TB slowly began to decrease in the United States. TB control efforts were then neglected in the 1970's and early 80's, and the number of TB cases increased.
